My work for POP-UP studio clients

As a result of the POP-UP we managed to acquire about 5 clients who also responded back to us later on about the work they wanted us to do. As Art Director of Deducis, I was responsible for designing and delivering 2 of them.

First was a Beauty and Lifestyle Youtube Channel logo for a client who asked specifically for the logo to have her initials on it and for it to be “feminine, modern and elegant”. Colour palette suggested by the client was pastel pinks and blues, as well as possibly gray, silver and light gray tones. The final one which she chose was the cray design with floral detailing.

The other Project was for a university marketing club who wanted a comic or graphic novel like feel to a very simple illustration portraying two people talking about the marketing club. My approach was to try and deliver the simple design in a way that is still engaging and aesthetic to anyone sporting or spotting the tote.

Week 12

Video progression about our team dynamics and planning moments. We also started brainstorming for interview questions and formats to film and use during the POP-UP and develop into the documentation video later. I found that seeing the footage in different stages is very important because based on that we came up with personal interview questions that suit the overall mood we already have going on. Such as “what is Deducis’ greatest weakness and biggest strenght?” or “What is the most fun moment you had whilst working in this group?”

Before the POP-UP I also finalized the design of our studios website/ online portfolio so that we would have a professional platform to guide our clients to take as a reference. Each designer of our studio has their own personal selection of previous projects portrayed on their page. We also plan to showcase our work through that during the POP-UP.

Week 11

During our final weeks we were asked to create more in-depth presentations about our groups progress and what we have developed and planned for the upcoming weeks as well. We talked about our plans for our POP-up studio and showed our development on social media.

We also took some vintage looking group photos, because once again we found that more suitable for our groups personalities as people and designers than having a professional photoshoot. Turned out our Instagram followers and peers love it!

Week 10

Screenprinting workshop as a group for our team T-shirts that are to be worn during the POP-UP studio.

I prepared the screen in the print studio the evening before so on the day we just all went in and got our hands dirty by manually screenprinting with textile ink. We were thinking to go more extravagant with our team T-shirst originally and I even designed a sample what it would look like (below), but decided to go with a more simple and logical solution of using the logo in the end.

Week 9

What I did during this week was mostly updating and perfecting my personal social profiles such as LinkedIn, Instagram and Pinterest. I also added a few more pieces to my online portfolio as I felt it was lacking in volume just a bit.

I tried to keep a consistency throughout all my socials so that potential clients could easily refer them back to eachother and get an idea of my style and experience from whichever platform they were browsing on.

Week 8

I started doing a bit more research for bettering my own personal profiles by trying to compile my most favourite work by other designers on Pinterest. As said by our tutor, everything we pu out there tells people something about us as designers so I really tried to clean and stock up my Pinterest boards as well.

Sidenote: During this week and the following week, as most of us Deducis designers are videly occupied with finishing up ISTD Brief projects- the motivation and content levels are low, but finding new inspiration and ideas is what really helped me personally.

Week 7

As Art Director, my task this week was to create a series of profiles for all our team members. We wanted to do something different and not just regular photographs but rather than something that shows our creativity and our studios design principals.

Using profile photographs taken of ever member, I traced simple single line Illustrations and added abstract splashes of colour reflecting our colour palette.
